The Government Digital Service, part of Department for Science, Innovation and Technology is offering a Senior Software Developer Returnship Programme. This is a supported route back into digital roles for experienced developers returning after a career break.

This paid 18‑month programme places you in a real delivery team at the UK Home Office or Ministry of Justice, with structured onboarding, mentoring, training and peer support, designed to help you rebuild confidence and refresh your skills while doing meaningful work.

Salary: £58,511 – £63,343

Location: Home Office (Sheffield, Manchester or Salford) or Ministry of Justice (National)
